Raynor weather seal replacement in Ventura typically costs between $70 and $140 installed, and we carry the common replacement profiles on our trucks so the job is usually done in a single visit, often same day. That’s the short answer. The way most Ventura homeowners discover the seal has failed is by noticing a sliver of daylight under the door, a new draft near the entry from the garage, or water that gets in along the bottom edge during the winter rain, which around here means December through March.
If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. This page covers which Raynor models we work on, what fails first, what a replacement should cost, and when it makes sense to have us do it rather than wrestling it yourself.
Which Raynor Models This Applies To
The bottom weather seal on a Raynor door is not a universal one-size strip. Raynor has shipped several astragal profiles and retainer-channel widths over the years, and the fit has to match the aluminum retainer already screwed to the bottom panel. We see this most often on the Raynor Aspen, AlumaView, and Pilot series in Ventura garages, along with older Raynor residential models that used a T-channel or P-bulb style seal. The surest check is the stamped label on the inside edge of the end stile, which lists the model and size. But labels fade, and about a third of the doors we service have none left, so the fallback measurement is the retainer channel itself: remove an inch of the old seal and measure the gap width if you can, or let us do that on a service call in under five minutes.
Raynor uses its own proprietary extrusion on some doors, which means a generic strip from a big-box store can look right but pull loose or bind in the channel after a few dozen open-close cycles. We stock both Raynor OEM weather seal and quality aftermarket equivalents sized to the exact retainer, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for your door rather than selling you whichever costs more. One thing that’s true across the board: the aftermarket option is usually fine and saves about $20 to $30, but if the door is a wider 16-foot or 18-foot commercial-style Raynor, we’ll recommend the OEM profile for a cleaner seal at the joints.

Signs Your Raynor Weather Seal Replacement Is Failing
- Daylight under the closed door. The seal has compressed, torn, or worn below the height of the slab. If the gap is uneven, the door may also be slightly out of balance, which is a separate issue worth checking while we’re there.
- Drafts or a warmer garage in summer. A worn bulb seal no longer sits flush against the concrete, so outdoor air moves freely. In Ventura’s inland neighborhoods, where afternoon temps run higher from June to September, the temperature difference is easiest to feel.
- Water on the garage floor after rain. When the bottom seal is cracked or has shrunk at the corners, standing water and debris from a rainstorm push right under the leading edge. This is the most common version we see in beach-adjacent areas south of the 101.
- Grass clippings, dust, or leaves inside the garage. The seal is supposed to keep ground-level debris out. If you’re sweeping more often than before, the bottom edge has likely lost its contact pressure.
- Visible cracks, flattening, or a seal that has slid sideways. Rubber weather seal degrades from UV exposure, salt air, and the steel retainers expanding and contracting. Once it hardens and pulls away from the end caps, it’s done.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For most Raynor residential doors in Ventura, an installed bottom weather seal runs $70 to $140. The spread comes down to door width (a single 8- or 9-foot door uses less material than a double 16-foot door), whether you need the OEM Raynor profile or a quality aftermarket equivalent, and whether the retainer channel itself is still solid or needs to be re-secured. If we have to replace the retainer too, add around $40 to $60. Parts and labor are separated on the written quote so you see exactly where the money goes.
We set the price before we start and hand it to you in writing, every time. That’s a company rule we’ve never bent. The work is covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the seal fails within a year of installation, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s the guarantee in its exact terms, not a paraphrase.
Related note: if we’re already at the house and find a spring or cable needs attention, spring repair on a Raynor door in Ventura runs $180 to $340 and cable repair runs $130 to $250. Different job, different scope, same written-price rule.
DIY or Call Us?
Weather seal replacement doesn’t involve torsion springs or high-tension cables, so the safety concerns are lower here than with most garage door repair work. That said, the door itself is heavy, and the DIY fail point on Raynor doors is almost always the same: the new seal binds partway through the channel because the old one tore and left fragments inside, or it’s the wrong profile to begin with. We’ve pulled plenty of half-finished seals out of retainers with a screwdriver because someone bought a universal strip and it wasn’t Raynor-specific.
What you can do safely is check the visible condition: look for cracks, flattening, or corner gaps. If it’s clearly shot and you want it done correctly without a second trip to the hardware store, our truck likely has the right profile on board. Call us at (559) 239-8293 and we’ll check the model, confirm the part, and give you a firm price before we turn a single bolt.
FAQs
A Raynor bottom seal in Ventura typically lasts 3 to 5 years before it flattens or cracks. Coastal humidity and salt air near the harbor can cut that to 2 to 3 years, while a shaded inland garage may get 6. Once the rubber stops rebounding or the corners shrink, replacement is the fix.
No, a torn or flattened bulb seal cannot be meaningfully patched. Adhesives and caulk won’t hold against a moving concrete slab. For the cost involved, full replacement is the only repair that solves the draft or leak for more than a season, which is why we don’t offer partial fixes here.
Most Raynor weather seal replacements take 30 to 45 minutes on site. The variables are whether old seal fragments have to be pulled from the channel and whether the retainer needs re-securing. If the part is on the truck, it’s done in one visit.
Yes, we keep common Raynor bulb and T-channel seals loaded along with equivalents for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie doors. If we know the door model ahead of the visit, we’ll confirm the specific profile before we roll up, and if it’s an unusual extrusion, we’ll tell you that on the phone instead of guessing.
